We decided that If any of us end up breaking the rules, we have to pick a chore out of the chore jar. A chore jar is a jar that will have different chores written on pieces of paper. If someone breaks the rules, they have to choose a chore from the jar.
The funny thing is My Husband and I will probably be the ones to end up having to do the most chores. I hate to admit this, but recently I have found myself yelling more then I should. Both of us are trying to work on not swearing, but sometimes we end up letting a few bad words slip off our tongues. We have been praying that God will help us with that problem and we have faith that we will be able to stop yelling and swearing.
If you plan on taking this journey with us, before introducing rules of any kind into your family, please remember that nobody is perfect and perfection is not necessarily a good thing to strive for, especially whenever it comes to children. Every child needs to know that imperfection is beautiful and that Jesus is the only perfect person to have ever walked on this earth.
Yes, there will be rules broken, but we will strive to make an effort to acknowledge that everyone is trying their best. Also, It would be a great idea to include rewards, whenever positive and good behavior is noticed.
Here is a sample of our House Rules :)
The House Rules
○Listen and obey: no back talking, say “yes
ma’am/sir and no ma’am/sir”
○Be honest: If we ask you a question, regardless
tell the truth!
○Remain positive in all situations

are sick or dying!

good role model to everyone: we are God’s children we should act like it
○If
you see something needs to be done, do it: dirty dishes, trash, floor, etc.
○No
yelling AT ALL: This goes for everyone, even Mom and Dad
○If it is not yours ask before using or eating the
item

○If you break curfew; you will do all chores and
will be grounded (we decide how long)

something; do it
